| PLANT NUTRIENT MANUFACTURER AND SEER JOIN FORCES
|
Forfar
based Angus Horticulture Ltd (AHL) made a key announcement
at the Scotgrow Trade Show held recently at Pentland Plants
near Edinburgh. AHL has now
signed a 4-year Agreement with Rockdust Ltd, the trading subsidiary
of The SEER Centre Trust, to carry out the marketing, promotion
and distribution of the SEER Rockdust products.
The original SEER Rockdust is blended and untreated
"quarry stoor" from SEER approved quarries. The first new
line, SEER RockSOIL, is the SEER Centre' growing medium
that produces the superb crops where local farmers said they
"would never even be able to grow tatties". SEER RockMIX
is a top dressing. The two new lines, launched this summer,
are a blend of Forth Resource Management Ltd's garden compost
and SEER Rockdust. All three products are now attracting significant
interest from throughout the UK and overseas.
Cameron and Moira Thomson who run the SEER Centre in Highland
Perthshire, have pioneered these products and supporting testimonials
are coming in from throughout the UK as shown on both AHL
and SEER's websites. "As a traditional plant nutrient manufacturer
we are fascinated in what the SEER Centre has achieved and
we are proud to include this range in our wholesale Angus
Garden Products." states Alistair Ballantyne, Director of
AHL. "SEER Rockdust improves crop health as well as nutritional
value, shelf life, drought and pest resistance and, where
relevant, flavour of the crops and we see it as having a significant
role to play in the future." AHL is currently stocking Garden
Centres around the country and the range can also be purchased
on-line. Small holdings are purchasing 1 ton bags and farmers
are starting to take 30ton loads in bulk, the latter to be
spread with lime spreading equipment.
At the same time SEPA has established a SOIL REMINERALISATION
RESEARCH FORUM to establish a better understanding of the
underlying soil science relating to the soil remineralisation
process. Dr Robin Szmidt of Active Compost Ltd has been appointed
by SEPA as the Forum Co-ordinator. The Forum will be membership
based with key member organisations encouraged to assist in
funding the research.
