Seaweed Meal

Seaweed is a fantastic soil conditioner and helps to improve plant health.

Used as a soil improver, it builds up the humus structure of the soil, stimulates microbial activity, and provides a range of micro nutrients as well as vitamins and alginates. A single application provides a slow-acting, long lasting plant food which is broken down over a period of months by the soil bacteria providing a health benefit to all crops grown.

We recommend applying at 200g/m². A 20kg bag treats 100m².

Angus Seaweed Meal Powder is totally natural multi-mineral supplement. It has a wide variety of readily absorbed naturally balanced minerals, trace elements, amino acids and vitamins. Angus Seaweed Meal Powder contains all the minerals and trace elements an animal requires for a normal healthy life. Trace Elements

Crops that contain sufficient levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium require a complement of trace elements, elements that are essential in small quantities to maintain a balanced diet for livestock feeding off these crops.

Vitamins/Amino Acids

Seaweed Meal is also known to contain a range of vitamins. Vitamin E is an anti sterility vitamin that also promotes ease of birth in livestock.

Seaweed Meal also contains many amino acids, the basic components of proteins. Many amino acids cannot be made in the animal system and their only source for animals and indeed humans is through plants consumption.

Alginates

Alginate is present in seaweed meal at levels of between 15% and 26%. Microbial population size has been found to increase dramatically in the presence of alginate gels. This is why seaweed meals are also excellent compost activators: the rate of composting is increased by the resulting increased microbial activity. It is well documented that the soil health and associated plant growth is directly proportional to the presence or absence of soil microbes. Alginates also absorb large volumes of water thus increasing the moisture in the soil.

Plant Hormones

Also present in Seaweed meal is a range of plant hormones and biochemical compounds including Cytokinins, which significantly increase the protein content in grass, also stabilising leaf proteins and has been shown to increase yield in commercial crops.

Major Attributes

• Suitable content of nitrogen and potassium, but lower in phosphorus than traditional manures and the typical NPK ratios in chemical fertilisers.
• Large amount of insoluble carbohydrates in Ascophyllum nodosum acts as soil conditioners (improves aeration & soil structure, especially in clay soils).
• Good moisture retention properties

Soil Conditioning

Angus Seaweed Meal Powder is organic granular seaweed used to condition soils prior to planting and as a top dressing to established plants and turf. As Titan Top Dress breaks down it gently releases nutrients. Alginates, which are unique to seaweeds act to improve the structure of clay soils whilst increasing the water holding capacity of sandy soils and soilless components. Seaweed is rich in trace elements ensuring healthy plants.

Angus Seaweed Meal feeds lightly and will not produce excessive growth.

Angus Seaweed Meal will also help to accelerate the breakdown of compost into a rich loam.
